RNA - "We reject the biased and political report which has raised baseless and unreal allegations against countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the issue of human-trafficking through its use of invalid resources and information," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday.
He said that the US administration is attempting to derail the world public opinion from its interfering and destabilizing policies which have caused the start and spread of human-trafficking networks, specially in Western Asia and Africa.
"The US administration should account for its actions," Qassemi said, blasting Washington for releasing biased and unilateral reports.
In a new report, the US State Department claimed that Belarus, Iran, Russia, and Turkmenistan remain among the worst offenders of human trafficking and forced labor.
According to Fars News Agancy, Iran has always stood in the frontline of fighting networks which commit the human-trafficking crime.
In relevant remarks in 2017, Iran’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Eshaq Ale’habib called on the world countries to join hands in the fight against human trafficking.
"Tehran is resolved to take the necessary measures to confront the horrible crime of human trafficking," Ale'habib said, addressing the UN General Assembly meeting in New York at the time.
