RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Mr. Lotfollah Forouzandeh, a member of the central council of the Popular Front of the Revolutionary Guards, said in regard to the proposal for direct negotiations with the United States by some reformers and members of the opposition, “One of the important values of the Islamic Republic of Iran is its fight against the arrogant powers of the world. Without doubt, the United States is the leader of the arrogant powers and is the real enemy of the Islamic Revolution. This claim contains sufficient witnesses, documents and evidence that the United States does not think of anything less than the destruction of the system of the Islamic Republic.”
He added, “Those in the country who act in this means are self-defeating and have values which are alien. There are different faces in this spectrum and they must be regretful for those who had a one day long revolutionary precedence, but unfortunately with such actions, they have turned towards the enemies.”
Mr. Forouzandeh called these people “the hopes of [the President of the United States, Donald] Trump” and emphasized, “They are unaware that our nation is the same people who support the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei] and the Islamic system in different arenas such as International al-Quds Day and Eid al-Fitr.”
He said that the writing of petitions and letters and the presentation of such suggestions gives a green light to the enemies, “Every wise and patriotic person knows that the United States’ hostility is a long-standing hostility. Their disloyalty in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the actions and pressures which they have imposed on the nation of Iran are just as they were before. While such individuals are repentant, they don’t understand or realize that the United States is our enemy and they optimistically that these individuals are alien to them.”
Expressing concern that the friends of some of those who called for direct negotiations with the United States are working with the same vision in the country’s executive system and are managing parts of the country’s executive system and said, “These individuals, besides their laziness, are unable to end the challenges but rather they increase them.”
Mr. Forouzandeh considered the economic situation of the country as manageable and emphasized that if there were people with thoughtfulness, rationality and decisiveness and who could deal with the opponents, it would be good to manage these conditions and disappoint the enemies.
Speaking in the Diplomatic Reception Room at the White House in Washington, DC, on May 8th, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced his decision to withdraw the United States from the nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries [China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States; plus Germany] and to re-impose sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
