A number of Israeli soldiers were killed during the 1982 war in Sultan Yaqoub region in Lebanon whose corpses were transferred and buried in the old graveyard of Yarmouk camp.

The Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon took place after Israel invaded Lebanon during the 1982 Lebanon War.

On May 25, 2000, the Israeli army withdrew from territory in Southern Lebanon, marking the end of the South Lebanon conflict. The withdrawal was mostly because of the resistance group Hezbollah, led by Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, and is celebrated as an important day in the history of Lebanon.

Dara'a-Quneitra

Terrorist groups in the Southern provinces of Dara'a and Quneitra formed a new coalition on Sunday amid the Syrian Army's preparedness to launch an imminent large-scale operation to end militancy in the Southern part of the country.

The army dispatched a large number of fresh forces and a large volume of military hardware to Dara'a city and its countryside and Quneitra province in recent days as a prelude for kicking off an imminent operation against the terrorist groups in Southern Syria.

In the meantime, the army issued last warnings to the terrorists, calling on them to lay down arms and join reconciliation plan.

Field sources, meantime, reported that several terrorist groups, including Ahrar al-Nowa, Shahid Jamil Abu al-Zein, al-Maqawir al-Khasa and Abna al-Joulan embarked on forming a new coalition named Jeisha al-Anqaz to face the army's upcoming operation.

Hasaka

Civilians in the Northeastern province of Hasaka called on the Syrian Army on Sunday to support them as tensions have gone high between the locals and the US-backed Kurdish militias in the region.

People in Qariwan neighborhood in Hasaka city took to the streets and opposed the Kurdish militias' forced recruitment. Protesters cut off roads connecting Qariwan to al-Nashwa neighborhood to prevent the Kurds from entering their region.

Sources said that popular uprising has spread in several neighborhoods, including al-Nashwa al-Qarbiyeh next to Qariwan, adding that people have called on the army to interfere and support them against the Kurdish militias.

The Kurdish militias' measure, mainly forced recruiting of young men in Hasaka, has angered people.
