
RNA - Ali Maqsoud told the Arabic website of Sputnik news agency on Saturday that the Syrian army and its allies' field achievements and establishment of security in over 20,000sq/km of the Syrian territories in Damascus have angered Israel, adding that the Israeli regime has launched the strikes against the army positions in the past two days to slow down the pace of these victories.
He referred to the Israeli attacks against the army positions in Southwestern Homs and the ISIL offensives against the army in Hamimeh and the T2 and T3 stations in the past few days, noting that they have been guided by the US.
Maqsoud said that the attacks that have been conducted with the US forces' direct support indicate Israel's fear of the Syrian army and its allies' power.
The Syrian Air Defense units repelled a missile attack on a military airport in Southwestern Homs on Thursday night, the Syrian state news agency reported.
SANA reported on Friday that the air defense units intercepted missiles fired at a military airport in the Central part of the country.
In the meantime, the Arabic-language website of Sputnik reported that the air defense units repelled the missile attack on al-Daba'a airbase in Southwestern Homs.
According to Fars News Agancy, the Arabic Sputnik further quoted well-informed sources as reporting that the units intercepted most of the fired missiles and the rest of the missiles hit the farms surrounding the airbase.
Meanwhile, local sources in Homs province reported that the Syrian Air Defense Units' missiles intercepted the violating warplanes.
Also, Moraseloun news website quoted local sources as reporting that the air defense units intercepted Israeli fighter jets that had fired missiles at Syrian territories.
Following the incident, the Pentagon said it was not involved in the attack on the military airport in Central Syria.
