RNA - "Maintaining the solidarity and unity among the Islamic countries would establish permanent security and stability in the Islamic world," Larijani said.

The two sides also discussed bilateral ties and regional developments during their phone conversation.

In relevant remarks earlier in May, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blasted the recent massacre of the Palestinians by Tel Aviv's regime, and called on Islamic countries to give a "firm response" to Israel's recent bloody military crackdown on mass protests in the Gaza Strip.

"At the Istanbul summit, the Islamic countries must give a firm response to the oppression and crimes against the Palestinian people," President Rouhani said in a phone conversation with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.

According to Fars News Agancy, the Iranian president was referring to the upcoming meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul.

President Rouhani, meantime, slammed the recent relocation of the US embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds as a "provocative move".
