Rasa - The Damascus government says the so-called US-led coalition purportedly fighting Daesh Takfiri terrorist group is devoid of any international legitimacy as it is committing massacres against ordinary Syrians, undermining the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria and prolonging the foreign-sponsored crisis.

RNA - Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in two separate letters addressed to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the rotating President of the UN Security Council Joanna Wronecka on Wednesday, called on the Security Council to take an immediate action, and stop war crimes and crimes against humanity being committed by the US-led force in the war-ravaged Arab country.

The letter further noted that the US-led coalition continues to target Syrian people, and systematically supports the remnants of terrorist groups.

“The only objective of this alliance is to undermine the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syrian Arab Republic and to prolong the current crisis in Syria in flagrant violation of Security Council resolutions, which stress the need for preservation of a united Syria,” they pointed out.

The Syrian foreign ministry then urged the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities regarding establishment of international peace and security, and to promptly stop the war crimes and crimes against humanity that are being committed by the US-led coalition against Syrian people. The letters also demanded an end to the presence of US and other foreign forces on the Syrian soil, asking the Security Council to devise mechanisms aimed at preventing the United States America from implementing its divisive plots and plundering Syria’s wealth.

On Tuesday, US-led fighter jets carried out a string of airstrikes against al-Fadhel village near al-Shaddadi town in Syria’s northeastern province of Hasakah, located 650 kilometers (400 miles) northeast of the capital Damascus, leaving 25 people dead and tens of others injured.

Local sources told Syria’s official news agency SANA that there were two elderly men among the deceased, noting that the fatalities mainly consisted of women and children.

According to Press TV, the US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be Daesh targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.

The military alliance has repeatedly been accused of targeting and killing civilians. It has also been largely incapable of achieving its declared goal of destroying Daesh.

Syria has been gripped with foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. The Syrian government says the Israeli regime and its Western and regional allies are aiding Takfiri militant groups that are wreaking havoc in the country.
