Syria in Last 24 Hours:
Rasa - The strongholds of Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) were smashed by the Syrian army in Homs province, killing one of its top commanders, military sources said on Saturday.

RNA - The sources added that the army is preparing to cleanse the Northern parts of the province of militants.

 

The sources said that a large number of special army forces have been sent to Northeastern Homs along with a large number of military equipment.

 

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.

 

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army's operations in provinces across Syria.

 

Homs

 

The Syrian army smashed the strongholds of Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at in Homs province, killing one of its top commanders, military sources said on Saturday, adding that the army is preparing to cleanse the Northern parts of the province of militants.

 

The sources said that a large number of special army forces have been sent to Northeastern Homs along with a large number of military equipment, adding that they are missioned with purging all terrorists of al-Rastan region in Northern Homs.

 

Meantime, the air force, artillery and missile units of the Syrian army attacked the terrorists' positions and moves in Northern Homs and Southern Hama, inflicting damage on the militants.

 

Also, field sources reported that the Syrian army has destroyed one of Tahrir al-Sham's bases in the village of Ezzeddin in Northeastern Homs by missile strikes.

 

During the operations, a commander of Tahrir al-Sham named Abu Ramah al-Hamawi was killed.

 

Damascus

 

The Syrian army continued military operations in Southern Damascus, extending the range of its advances and regaining control of more regions.

 

The Syrian army forces continued clashes with the ISIL terrorists West of Hajar al-Aswad region on Saturday, retaking control of al-Madeniyeh district in al-Qadam neighborhood.

 

Meantime, the artillery and missile units of the army heavily pounded the terrorists' positions in Hajar al-Aswad and Yarmouk refugee camp, inflicting heavy casualties on the militants.

 

Also, the Syrian army advanced in the Western and Eastern fronts of Hajar al-Aswad region, tightening the noose on the terrorists in the region which is considered as the ISIL key stronghold.

 

Lattakia

 

The Russian army dispatched new air defense equipment to its airbase in Humeimim in Lattakia province.

 

The Tor M2 air defense equipment were dispatched to Syria's Humeimim air base on April 20 and 21, the Arabic-language version of Sputnik quoted Russian reporters as saying.

 

According to Fars News Agancy, it said that it is for the first time that Tor M2 has been dispatched to Syria, adding that Tor M2 has a good performance in electronic jamming and against drone attacks.

 

Tor M2 is capable of targeting and destroying air targets in all directions. The air targets within a 30 kilometer range can be traced and four targets can be engaged in a 10-kilometer distance simultaneously.

 

Tor M2 is a fully-automated surface-to-air missile (SAM) system manufactured by Almaz-Antey’s Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol, to deliver effective air defense in jamming environments.

 

The short-range air defense missile system can counter a wide range of targets including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), guided missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft, helicopters and high-precision weapons flying at very low to medium altitudes.

 

The Tor family of SAM systems is in service with the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Iran, Russia, Ukraine and Venezuela.
