RNA - "I stressed at the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations in New York late on April 23) and will stress again today at the UNGA that it is imperative for us in the Persian Gulf to change the prevailing zero-sum paradigm of exclusion and hostility to one of cooperation and confidence-building," Zarif wrote on his twitter page on Tuesday.
"I invite our neighbors and the UN to support Regional Dialogue Forum," he added.
Zarif arrived in New York on Thursday on a six-day stay in the US where he is slated to attend a UN Meeting on Peace-building and Sustaining Peace on April 24-25.
The meeting is being held upon the proposal of Miroslav Lajčák, the current President of the United Nations General Assembly, at the level of presidents, prime ministers, and foreign ministers.
According to Fars News Agancy, Zarif is expected to address the event on Tuesday.
Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres and Miroslav Lajčák are among the figures Zarif is going to have bilateral meetings with.
Zarif will discuss the latest regional developments, in particular the Syrian and Yemeni crises, as well as Iran’s nuclear deal during the visit.
