Arab Analyst: Turkey to Face Threat of Disintegration in Case of Lack of Cooperaton with Syria, Iraq
RNA - "The US and its western allies intend to pave the ground for Turkey's disintegration through disintegrating Syria," Atwan wrote on Tuesday, adding that Washington aims to disintegrate the West Asian countries to establish new states based on their race and ethnic backgrounds according to a plot which started 7 years ago.
He believes that Turkey cannot stand against this plot alone and should cooperate with its neighbors, Iraq and Syria, within a strong strategic framework.
"Unfortunately, Turkey is not after this cooperation; one day, it plays in the US court and another day, it plays in the court of the Russians and its allies, and then again it issues a statement and supports the tripartite US, French, British missile strikes against Syria," Atwan said.
According to Fars News Agancy, he, meantime, said that declaration of early elections by Erdogan indicates the concerns that the ruling party feels of the current situation.
Erdogan called for a snap parliamentary and presidential election to be held on June 24, more than a year earlier than planned.
Erdogan said in an address at his presidential palace on Wednesday that the country urgently needed to make the switch to an executive presidency. The date will still need to be confirmed by the election commission, he added, but preparations would begin, World News reported.
Speaking at a news conference following a meeting with opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) head Devlet Bahceli, Erdogan stated that “Turkey’s cross border operation in Syria, and the situation in both Syria and Iraq obliged Turkey to overcome uncertainties as soon as possible".
“For this reason at the end of talks with Mr. Bahceli, we decided to hold elections on June 24, 2018 on Sunday,” the President added.
The parliamentary and presidential polls had previously been slated for November 2019.
Turkey held a referendum in mid-April 2017, during which the majority of voters decided in favor of an 18-article bill to switch from a parliamentary to a presidential system.
