The Syrian Army troops stormed the positions of the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southern Aleppo on Saturday and captured one more strategic height in their push towards Eastern Idlib.

The army men captured Tal (hill) al-Waz West of the village of Tarfawi in Southern Aleppo after inflicting heavy defeat and casualties on the Al-Nusra.

A field source said that the army is planning to advance in Southern Aleppo to open a new road towards the militant-held town of Saraqib in Eastern Idlib.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Tuesday that the army troops pushed terrorists back from 322 villages, towns and regions in a large region stretching among the provinces of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo in nearly a month of operation, killing almost 300 terrorists.

The SOHR reported that the army has freed 322 villages, towns and regions in 29 days of large-scale operation against terrorists in Southern Aleppo, Northeastern Hama and Southeastern Idlib.

It added that 297 terrorists, including 103 non-Syrians, from Al-Nusra Front, the Islamic al-Turkistani Party and other groups have been killed in the army operation in the three provinces.

Idlib

The Syrian Army troops are preparing for kicking off a large-scale operation to push the terrorists back from a key town in Southeastern Idlib as a large number of fresh government forces have arrived in the region, local sources reported on Saturday.

The sources said that the army has dispatched a large number of fresh soldiers and a large volume of military hardware to Idlib.

They went on to say that the newly arrived soldiers will participate in an imminent operation to free the strategic town of Saraqib in Southeastern Idlib.

In the meantime, the army men deployed in regions near Abu al-Dhohour airbase are preparing for another large-scale operation.

The Syrian and Russian warplanes launched several airstrikes over Southern Idlib on Friday, targeting terrorists' hideouts and trenches near the Idlib-Hama Highway.

Led by the Russian air force, the fighter jets repeatedly hammered out the positions of Al-Nusra Front near the strategic town of Ma’arat Al-Nu'aman, destroying several terrorists' positions.

In the meantime, the Syrian and Russian jets carried out many strikes above the towns of al-Latamina and Kafr Zita in Northern Hama.

The warplanes are still conducting airstrikes over Southern Idlib and Northern Hama, as the Syrian Army attempts to advance their positions against the terrorists, local sources said in a report.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops continued cleansing operation in Deir Ezzur province and found a large volume of arms and ammunitions, including Israel-made landmines, in ISIL's positions, a field source said on Saturday.

The source said that the army men carried out mop-up operations in the villages and towns of al-Sayal, Hasarat, al-Salehiyeh and al-Jala'a West of the town of Albu Kamal, discovering a large volume of arms and ammunition in the regions that were once under ISIL control.
