RNA - The terrorists sustained heavy losses in fierce clashes with the Syrian army troops and their military equipment was destroyed.
Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Hama, Damascus and Idlib, over past 24 hours.
Homs
The Syrian army fiercely pounded the ISIL moves in Eastern Homs in concurrent attacks against the militants in the Northern regions of the province after the terrorists violated the ceasefire.
The Syrian fighter jets targeted the ISIL positions in al-Sarayem region near Hamimeh as well as the terrorists' moves near the joint borders between Deir Ezzur and Homs provinces, killing a number of militants and destroying several of their vehicles and military equipment.
Also, the army units launched missile and artillery attacks against the terrorists in Northern Homs after they violated the ceasefire and launched an offensive on the military positions in Maymin and Kafr Laha fronts near Houla region, smashing the militants' positions and killing several of them.
Hama
The Syrian Army units won back two more villages from ISIL in Northeastern Hama on Sunday as government troops are expanding the security zone around the newly-freed Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib.
The terrorists retreated from the villages of Totah and Ainq Bajereh North of al-Sa'an region after heavy fighting with the army.
Military sources confirmed earlier that the army troops laid a full siege on the terrorists in a region as large as 1,200 sq-km stretching among the provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Idlib.
The sources said that the army men managed to beat back terrorists from the village of Um Tineh in Southern Aleppo and moved towards the village of Um al-Joureh near Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib, laying siege on the militants in a region covering 1,200 sq/km of area from Southeastern Khanasser in Aleppo up to West of the town of Sinjar in Idlib and North of al-Sa'an region in Northern Hama.
A field source said that two-thirds of the besieged regions are under the Al-Nusra Front control and the rest is held by the ISIL.
Damascus
The Syrian Army soldiers continued to advance against terrorists in Eastern Ghouta and captured several key buildings in the town of Harasta on Sunday.
The army men beat terrorists back from several buildings South of Karaj al-Hajaz in Harasta, expanding the range of security in the region.
Also, the Syrian Air Force carried out several combat flights over terrorists' positions in Harasta.
In the meantime, a field source reported that the army units purged several areas near al-Othman Grand Mosque in Arbin of terrorists.
Field sources reported earlier on Sunday that the army units, supported by artillery units' heavy fire, stormed terrorists' positions along the road connecting Arbin and Harasta region and seized control over several building blocks.
In the meantime, the country's Air Force raided terrorists' positions and command centers in the town of Harasta and supply roads to the town near Zamalka, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.
Idlib
The Syrian Army troops raided the positions of the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board) on Sunday and managed to beat the terrorists back from several positions in a small town near the newly-freed Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib.
The army men launched fresh attacks on the Al-Nusra positions in the small town of Abu al-Dhohour West of Abu al-Dhohour airbase and captured several regions in the town.
The army men are carrying out heavy attacks on the terrorists in several flanks around Abu al-Dhohour airbase to capture the terrorist-held regions and expand the security zone around the airbase.
Reports said earlier that the army men drove the Al-Nusra Front back from the key Abu al-Dhohour airbase after over two years of occupation, army sources confirmed.
The sources added that the army men are fortifying their positions at the airbase.
The Al-Nusra suffered a heavy death toll in the clashes, the sources said, adding that the army has forwarded more troops and equipment to the military airport and its engineering units have started defusing bombs and landmines planted by the terrorists in the newly-captured military airport.
The Syrian Air Force is still conducting massive bombing raids on the terrorists in the Northern and Southwestern directions of the airbase.
In the meantime, other units of the army are advancing towards the villages near the airbase to reinvigorate security to the airport.
Aleppo
The Syrian Army stormed the Al-Nusra Front in Southern Aleppo and liberated more villages on Sunday in an operation meant to expand the security zone around the newly-freed Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib.
The army men beat the Al-Nusra back from the villages of Moshrefeh Qarbi, Moshrefeh Sharqi, Khirbet al-Fajr, Rasm al-Harmal and Dowayer al-Houteh Northeast of Abu al-Dhohour airbase.
The Al-Nusra suffered heavy casualties and its military hardware sustained major damage in the army advances in Southern Aleppo.
