Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria, including Aleppo and Damascus, over past 24 hours.
Idlib
The Syrian Army has dispatched more troops and equipment to accelerate advances against terrorists in Southeastern Idlib and capture the Abu al-Dhohour military airport fast, field sources reported on Tuesday.
The sources said that a large number of army soldiers and military equipment have arrived in Southeastern Idlib to intensify attack on terrorists and drive them out of Abu al-Dhohour strategic airbase.
The sources added that the army units have managed to recapture the positions they lost temporarily to terrorists in Southeastern Idlib.
Field sources confirmed on Monday that thousands of terrorists retreated from their positions in Southern Aleppo and Northern Hama and moved to Southeastern Idlib to back the Al-Nusra Front against the Syrian Army troops that were rapidly advancing towards Abu al-Dhohour airbase.
The sources said that thousands of gunmen from the Al-Nusra, the Islamic al-Turkistani Party and Ahrar al-Sham have retreated from their positions in Southern Aleppo and Northern Hama in the last seven days.
The sources said that the terrorists left their positions to avoid an army siege in Aleppo, Hama and Idlib, adding that the fleeing terrorists have arrived in Southeastern Idlib to back the Al-Nusra militants to slow down the army's devastating advances towards Abu al-Dhohour airbase.
Aleppo
The Syrian Army troops stormed the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation board) in Southern Aleppo and managed to capture several villages in the push towards Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib on Tuesday.
The army soldiers exchanged heavy fire with the Al-Nusra in Southern Aleppo and captured the villages of Oweinat Saqira, Oweinat Kabaira and Marhamiya, inching closer to the strategic Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib.
A number of al-Nusra gunmen were killed or wounded and their military equipment were damaged in the army operation.
Earlier reports said that the army men stormed the Al-Nusra's positions on Tal (hill) al-Shahid after capturing Tal al-Zaman and managed to impose control over a key region West of the village of Jafr al-Mansour along the road connecting Tal al-Zaman to Abu al-Dhohour.
A military source said that a vast region in Southern Aleppo in now under the monitoring of army soldiers after the fall of Tal al-Shahid into the government forces.
The source said that the army also pushed terrorists back from the Eastern part of the town of al-Oweinat after capturing the Tal al-Shahid.
The army men are planning to advance more from Southern Aleppo to lay siege on Abu al-Dhohour airbase from the North, while the military airbase has been under the army's siege from its Eastern and Southwestern directions.
Damascus
Field sources reported on Tuesday that a notorious commander of Faylaq al-Rahman was killed in battle with the Syrian Army troops in Eastern Ghouta.
The sources said that the army men clashed with terrorists in the Vehicles Management Center in Harasta region, killing a number of terrorists, including Abu Ala'a To'ameh, the field commander of Faylaq al-Rahman.
The sources said that Abu Ala'a was the commander of engineering units and military affairs of the terrorist group.
Reports said earlier on Tuesday that the army troops managed to advance against terrorists in Eastern Ghouta and captured a key hill in the region, inching closer to lay siege on a main bastion of militants.
The army men stormed the positions of Jeish al-Islam in Harazma region and seized back Tal (hill) Harazma.
The army men further cut off the supply line of terrorists in the town of al-Nashabiyeh and captured several positions in the gardens of al-Nashabiyeh.
In the meantime, a field source pointed to the army's advances in the town of Harazma that is connected to al-Nashabiyeh from its Northern direction, adding that the army soldiers are planning to separate the town from other regions under the control of militants.
The army has laid siege on al-Nashabiyeh from its Southern and Eastern directions.
