Rasa - The Syrian Army gave a last ultimatum to the terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta to lay down arms and surrender to the government forces, field sources reported on Wednesday.
Damascus
The field sources said that the army has distributed thousands of leaflets across terrorist-held regions in the towns of Harasta and Arbin and the regions of Jobar and Ein Terma in Eastern Ghouta, giving them a last ultimatum to lay down arms and surrender.
The sources said that the army ultimatum came after a sum of 22 terrorists from the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board), Ahrar al-Sham and Faylaq al-Rahman were killed in the pro-government forces' operation against the militant groups in Harasta.
In the meantime, the army's artillery and missile units have been heavily pounding terrorists' positions in Harasta, Arbin, Ein Terma and Jobar.
Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian army troops imposed control over more positions near the town of Harasta after heavy fighting with terrorists in Eastern Ghouta.
The army men stormed terrorists' positions near al-Hajaz garage in Harasta region and captured several buildings.
In the meantime, the army's artillery and missile units opened heavy fire on terrorists' positions in Harasta and the road connecting Ein Terma to Jobar region, inflicting several casualties on the militants.
Idlib
Also on Wednesday, The Syrian Army troops beat the Al-Nusra Front back from four more regions in Southeastern Idlib as the terrorist group has been withdrawing from a number of villages and towns in recent days, field sources confirmed.
The sources said that the army men captured the villages of al-Adeliyeh, Tal al-Aowja, Rasm al-Ward and Marijab Jamlan after heavy fighting with Al-Nusra gunmen and their militant allies.
The sources said that a large number of Al-Nusra terrorists have been killed or wounded and a large volume of their military equipment has been destroyed in the army operation to liberate Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib in recent days.
Military reports said on Wednesday that a large number of popular fighters affiliated to the Syrian Army troops have been forwarded to the newly-freed regions in Southeastern Idlib to face possible attacks of the terrorist groups.
The reports said that the army has sent a large number of the Palestinian Liwa al-Quds popular combatants to Southeastern Idlib to reinvigorate security in the newly-captured region and face possible attacks of the Al-Nusra Front to seize back lost lands.
Also in the past 24 hours, a number of the special forces of the Al-Nusra Front were killed and scores more have been wounded in the Syrian Army operation near the strategic Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib.
Well-informed sources reported that nine members of the elite units of Al-Nusra have been killed and two dozen more have been injured in the army attack near Abu al-Dhohour airbase.
The sources said also that the artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at Al-Nusra movements and positions at Abu al-Dhohour military airport and it nearby regions.
Also on Wednesday, the Syrian Army troops managed to push the Al-Nusra Front back from 12 more villages in Southeastern Idlib, killing a number of terrorists, including a senior field commander.
The army men stormed the Al-Nusra strongholds in Southeastern Idlib near the key Abu al-Dhohour military airport again and captured the villages of al-Jaberiyeh, Rasm al-Nayas, al-Aziziyeh, Jubb al-Abyadh, Ra'eifa, al-Baya'a Saqira, al-Baya'a Kabira, Ra'as al-Ein, al-Boydar, Koula al-Boyday, Rasm al-Jahash and Rasm al-Borj.
Field sources, meantime, reported that fierce clashes are underway between the army and Al-Nusra in different flanks near Abu al-Dhohour, adding that Abu al-Qa'aqa'a, a notorious field commander of terrorists, has been killed in the clashes.
Field sources also confirmed on Wednesday that the Syrian army troops are on the verge of conquering Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib after deploying only 2 km away from the base that is still under the control of Al-Nusra Front.
The sources said that the army forces have taken control of the villages of al-Adeliyeh and Rasm al-Khashouf in Southeastern Idlib, reaching the Al-Nusra's positions only 2km away from the Southern entrance of Abu al-Dhohour base.
The sources said that a tough battle is now underway between the army men and militants in different flanks near Abu al-Dhohour airbase.
Homs
The Syrian Army and Air Force targeted ISIL's strongholds in Southeastern Homs on Wednesday, killing and wounding a number of terrorists.
The army men exchanged fire with ISIL in a mountainous region near the town of al-Quaryatayn.
Also, the army aircraft bombed heavily the positions and movements of terrorists in al-Quaryatayn mountain, killing and wounding several terrorists.
The warplanes further raided terrorist centers near al-Mahsa mountain and a region East of the mountain.
Field sources confirmed that all the positions of the terrorists were damaged and a number of ISIL terrorists were killed or wounded in the airstrikes.
Aleppo
The Syrian army troops launched fresh attacks on the positions of the Al-Nusra Front in Southern Aleppo on Wednesday and managed to capture several strategic positions in their push toward Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib.
The army men, operating in Southern Aleppo towards Abu al-Dhohour airbase in Southeastern Idlib, stormed the Al-Nusra strongholds and captured the village of Jabal al-Has.
The army men further advanced against Al-Nusra and imposed control over Tal (hill) al-Maqbara and Tal Abu Roweil, located between Mount al-Has and Abu al-Dhohour airbase.
The army is trying to advance towards Abu al-Dhohour in three directions to capture the military airports and its nearby regions.
