Zarif together with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and some other senior officials traveled to Russia to attend Sochi Tripartite Summit along with the Turkish officials on continued fight against terrorism.
The tripartite which was held in Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi focused on the results of Syria peace talks held in Astana, Kazakhstan and the beginning of political process within Syria.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message underlined that assisting the Syrian people is the aim of Sochi Summit.
“In Sochi with President Rouhani & Chief of Staff (General) Bagheri at a historic summit with our counterparts from Russia and Turkey to help Syrian people finally secure a just and lasting peace. Moving in the right direction,” Zarif added in his twitter post on Wednesday.
Iran, Russia and Turkey in a statement issued in the Russian city of Sochi underlined continued cooperation until complete annihilation of terrorist groups in Syria.
The statement issued at the end of the tripartite talks on Syria on Wednesday also called for safeguarding unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria.
The text endorsed by Presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey reads that the three countries are determined to help restore peace and stability in Syria underlined in the UNSC Resolution 2254.
Iran, Russia and Turkey are to help maintain ceasefire in Syria, the statement said.
The three countries also agreed to continue cooperation till final annihilation of the terrorist groups in Syria, it added.
