RNA - "The Islamic Republic of Iran's defense policy is based on deterrence and is not affected by any threat, sanction and pressure and we move forward appropriate to different types of threats and geopolitical conditions of the country," General Hatami said, addressing members of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in Tehran on Wednesday.
Noting that no enemy can imagine the extent of Iran's defense power, he said that the US has stopped short of mentioning the military option against Iran after several years due to Tehran's military power.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has attained such a very high defense-strategic capability that we can today suppress different types of threats against the Islamic Republic in and outside borders decisively, crushingly and in a timely manner," General Hatami said.
In relevant remarks in May, Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said that the country's Armed Forces will show a swift and crushing reaction to any aggression by the enemies, downplaying military threats against the country.
"The enemies should know that in case of any miscalculation or the smallest aggression against the Islamic Republic and the Islamic territories (of Iran), the swift, decisive and crushing response in regions that we decide will make them regret their deeds and will defeat them," General Baqeri said, addressing a ceremony in Tehran.
He, meantime, underlined the enemies' weakness and incapability to launch a military war against Iran.
General Baqeri also said that the enemies' use of a number of terrorists to make Iran insecure will bring them nothing but humiliation.
