RNA - "With ISIL's hopes of creating the chimerical Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) faded, it was once again proved that terrorism and the ideological, financial, political and military supporters of the troublemaking phenomenon are doomed to failure; they should be accountable for their crimes, mass killings, destructions and displacement of millions of defenseless and innocent people before world courts and moral consciences,” read the statement issued on Tuesday evening.
It appears that, added the statement, with cooperation and courage of all the resistance forces and the regional countries that took serious steps in fighting terrorism, extremism, and massacre of innocent people, a new important chapter of developments has opened in Western Asia and the region and the world is going to experience a history-making test.
The foreign ministry also admired and congratulated the role of those engaged in fighting Daesh, including the peoples of Syria and Iraq, all the peoples of the region, military forces, Iranian military advisors, Hezbollah, and other resistance forces.
The statement especially thanked Russia for its efforts to annihilate the terrorist group.
The Iranian ministry said the region and the world are in a big historic turn, adding that it will continue its honest attempts in order to restore peace, stability and security in the region and the world.
In relevant remarks on Monday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari congratulated the Syrian government and nation for taking back ISIL's last stronghold town of Albu Kamal from the terrorists.
"I am happy that the extensive efforts and sacrifices made in the past few years to fight terrorism and extremism in the region have yielded results," Jaberi Ansari said.
"Fortunately, we are witnessing the military end of the ISIL in Iraq and Syria and it is a major success for the regional nations," he added.
Describing Iran as a pioneer state in the fight against terrorism, Jaberi Ansari expressed pleasure that his country has a share in these victories against terrorist groups.
Earlier this month, the Syrian army soldiers, supported by their allies, broke the ISIL's defense lines in Albu Kamal in Eastern Deir Ezzur, entering the city and liberating the ISIL's last major bastion in Syria after heavy clashes with the terrorists.
They immediately started cleansing operations in the city after winning back its control.
A field source said that the Syrian troops laid siege on ISIL terrorists in an extensive area in the triangle of T2 Station, al-Ba'ajat in Syria and al-Akashat in Iraq after meeting the Iraqi forces at the border.
