RNA - "The Saudi foreign minister is making a useless attempt, that has been repeated and experienced several times, to show all realities reversed so that he may be able to divert the public opinion from Saudi Arabia's destabilizing measures in the region," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Saturday.
Stressing that all the regional states are aware of Saudi Arabia's divisive policies, he said, "While the Islamic Republic of Iran has spared no efforts during the years to help establish stability, security and tranquility at the international and regional level, this time the region has been entangled in undigested extremist policies a part of which is aimed at diverting the public opinion from their (the Saudis') self-made internal and foreign miseries."
Qassemi called on all the regional states to show prudence and serious determination to confront the destructive impacts of Riyadh's policies.
His remarks came after Saudi Arabia's foreign minister urged the international community to slap fresh sanctions against Iran Thursday, alleging that its arch-regional rival is supporting terrorism.
When asked by the CNBC news channel whether Saudi Arabia was headed for a direct conflict with Iran, Al-Jubeir replied, "We hope not."
