Rasa - Bahrain’s public prosecutor ordered the arrest of another Shiite cleric earlier this week, as the Manama regime presses ahead with its crackdown on the Shiite majority in the kingdom.

RNA - Sayed Ali Al-Mosawi was given a 15-day jail term pending further investigation. The allegations against the cleric are unknown, Lua Lua TV reported.

Al-Mosawi is among dozens of Shiite clerics jailed in recent months. Meanwhile, the regime stepped-up its harassment of Shiite religious figures during the annual Ashura commemorations, which honors the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussein.

In August, the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called on Manama to “stop discriminating against the Shiite communities” in the Persian Gulf kingdom.

“In Bahrain, the government continued to question, detain and arrest Shiite clerics, community members and opposition politicians,” Tillerson said following the release of the US State Department’s annual report on international religious freedom.
