RNA - "Strengthening the atmosphere for effective and constructive discourse among the Islamic countries' parliaments has an important role in helping to solve the regional issues and fighting terrorism and extremism," Larijani said in his message.

"The Abrahamic Hajj is a center for intimacy, solidarity, unity, and coherence of the Muslim world," he said.

Larijani said that one of the things Islamic intersection teaches us is that one of the goals of Hajj is to create mutual understanding and brotherhood and staying away from discrepancies and discord, adding that steady bilateral, multilateral and regional parliamentary relations are a necessity to obtain peace and security.

Stressing the parliament's support for any action taken towards strengthening the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity and boosting cooperation among Muslim countries, he added, "I strongly believe that the issues of the Muslim world can be solved through joint attempts so that the Muslim Ummah regains its foothold in the international relations."

Almost three million Muslims have gathered in the desert of Mena near the holy city of Mecca to mark Eid al-Adha. Muslims around the world celebrate three following days in honor of the occasion.

The day marks the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage, during which pilgrims sacrifice sheep and cattle.
