RNA - During that time, the 44-year old telecommunications engineer has had no access to a lawyer and has not been allowed to see his family, Lua Lua TV reported.
His family became aware of his detention on October 24, 2016 after Bahraini security forces nabbed him at his place of work in the city of Muharaq.
His wife later told rights groups that she submitted complaints to a number of state-run bodies “including those with a specific mandate to protect detainees’ rights.” However, her husband, who is yet to be charged with any crime, remains in detention.
Both, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch (HRW), have called for Alawi’s release.
Last December, HRW’s deputy Middle East director, Joe Stork, said that Alawi’s “chances of a fair trial look very low and his family’s concerns for his well-being are absolutely justified.”
