RNA - Ali Akbar Velayati, the senior adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on international affairs, made the comments while speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Secretary General of Iraq’s Islamic Virtue, Abdul Hussein al-Moussawi, in Tehran on Monday.

He added that regional countries should not allow foreigners to interfere in their internal affairs or to find an opportunity to cause disorder in the region.

“The region’s fate must be in the hands of regional countries and all must unite to counter terrorism and extremism,” Velayati pointed out.

He said in talks with Moussawi, he had reiterated Iran’s support for Iraq in its battle against terrorists and foreigners.

The Iraqi politician, for his part, said acts of terror by Daesh terrorist group had put Tehran and Baghdad on the same track, because such attacks were not merely against one country but against the entire humanity.

Iran has provided Iraq with a steady contribution of military advisers who have been key to pushing back Daesh terrorists.
