He reiterated the western countries have supported the terrorist groups, and said, "The terrorist attack in Barcelona which resulted in death and injury of many people and tourists was another alarm to make the international community aware of the threats of terrorist attacks on the West."
In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani blasted the US for its double-standard policies on terrorism, describing Washington as the number one supporter of terrorist groups in the region.
"Unfortunately, the Americans continue their double-standard approach and adopt measures which not only runs counter to their claims about war on terrorism but also shows that they are still the main supporter of terrorism in the region through such policies," Shamkhani told the Arabic-language al-Ahd news website.
Meantime, he underlined that Iran will powerfully continue its support for the resistance front and those countries which are in the frontline of campaign against terrorism.
