RNA - Hoenig, a former Green Party candidate for Congress, made the remarks in an interview on Friday after Trump suggested that some Muslims should be executed with bullets dipped in pig's blood.
Hours after a deadly terror attack in Barcelona, Spain, Trump tweeted, "Study what General Pershing of the United States did to terrorists when caught. There was no more Radical Islamic Terror for 35 years!"
Trump’s tweet referenced a dubious story about US Army General John Pershing’s handling of Muslim prisoners during the Moro Rebellion (1899–1913) in the Philippines. The rebellion was an armed conflict between Muslims and the United States military.
“Isn’t there always that one person in the family who embarrasses the hell out of every one? In America’s First Family, that person is the President. You’d expect that from someone who grew up ignorant, academically or experientially. Someone who pushes their way through life expecting things to go their way and often doesn’t. It’s often someone who blames their life’s failures on everyone other than themselves,” Hoenig said.
“In this case I’m not talking about Hillary and her campaign, although she’s an embarrassment in her own right. President Trump gets what he usually wants because he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and commanded power over simple, honest people the easy way- through intimidation, extortion, lies and having friends in the media and other positions of power,” he said.
Trump’s latest faux pas
“The latest faux pas from #45 refers to a factiousness account that General Pershing said to dip bullets in pigs’ blood as he was fighting an uprising in the Philippines early in the 20th century as his solution to the recent deadly attack in Barcelona. That it happened under his command is not challenged but that he, the general ordered it, is. The desecration of the human body in war time is a time-honored tradition, in any war,” the analyst stated.
“One wonders if Trump is a genius. Does he come up with these to successfully take America’s mind off his previously idiotic statements? Maybe he saw the heat, or was told there is heat, over saying that there were a lot of very fine people in the crowd who were worshipping Hitler, calling for the expulsion of Jews among them, and praising the institution of slavery, all in Charlottesville. Maybe the invasion of North Korea is under way now that people’s minds are ‘back’ on ISIS [Daesh],” he said.
“One’s luck is bound to change. His poll numbers keep sinking deeper but not yet amongst his core supporters. Members of Congress in his own party have been near unanimous in their condemnation of his Nazi sympathies and are speaking out. There’s open talk of a President Pence,” he observed.
“But what always unites the American people behind their disgraced leaders is a war. Mayor Rudy Giuliani of New York was one of the least popular mayors of his city. Then 9/11 turned him into ‘America’s Mayor’. President Trump’s numbers have fallen every week since his presidency. But his illegal bombing of Syria made him ‘presidential’ in the minds and hearts of the media and Congress, of both parties,” he said.
“This man is a danger to all and proves day after day his incompetence as the political CEO of the corporation known as the United States. When you think things couldn’t get worse, they do. Must be time for a war,” he concluded.
