RNA - "We continue to counter the ISIL on all scenes and the most important issue is to take the initiative on these scenes and cleanse the region from the terrorists who have been nurtured by the world arrogance, including the US and Israel," Deputy Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Major General Mostafa Izadi told reporters in Tehran on Monday.
Also, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour referred to Iran's presence in Iraq and Syria at the demand of their governments to provide their military forces with advisory aid, and said, "We entered Iraq and Syria when the terrorists had approached our redlines."
He said had Iran not sent advisors to Iraq and Syria, its security would have been compromised given the presence of Saudi spy agencies and the terrorists.
In June, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi lauded the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' efforts to eradicate terrorist groups in the region, and said the IRGC will powerfully continue its fight against terrorism.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has doubt about uprooting terrorism, insecurity and instability in the region and will fight against these ugly and disgusting plights with all its power," Qassemi said.
"To this end, the proper and effective moves of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Armed Forces, specially the IRGC, in its relentless fight against the Takfiri and terrorist streams in the region will continue with no respect for the prates of those who support the criminal terrorists," he added.
His remarks came days after the IRGC launched multiple missile strikes at the ISIL centers in Syria's Deir Ezzur from bases in Western Iran in retaliation for the June 7 twin terrorist attacks in Tehran.
