RNA - Backed by the Russian combat helicopters, the Syrian army’s 5th Corps, alongside Hezbollah and the Afghan Liwaa Fatemiyoun forces, stormed ISIL’s defense lines near al-Hayl Gas Field, inflicting heavy damage on the terrorist group’s fortifications.
According to a military source, the Syrian army managed to establish security at al-Hayl Gas Field region, killing at least 15 ISIL terrorists in clashes.
Late last week, the Syrian army troops hit the ISIL's defense lines in Eastern Homs and imposed control over more lands along the road that connects Homs city to the ancient city of Palmyra.
The army soldiers launched the operation from their positions in Tafheh and Manoukh hills North of Power plant 4 and managed to impose control over several overlooking heights North of Homs-Palmyra road.
In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force pounded ISIL's movements and positions in Humeimeh and East of the town of Arak, killing a number of militants and destroying their equipment.
Relevant reports said on Saturday that the army men engaged in tough battle with ISIL in Eastern Homs and captured a key town and several nearby heights.
The army units clashed fiercely with ISIL and drove them out of the town of Jubab Hamd North of Um al-Tababi 12km East of Homs city.
In the meantime, a military source confirmed that a large number of terrorists were killed and a large volume of their military hardware was damaged.
The sources also said that three key heights North of Jubab Hamd were captured by the army men.
The source further added that the army forces have fortified their positions in Western Raqqa to restart the operation towards the town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs that is seen as an entrance gate to the besieged city of Deir Ezzur.
