Rasa - Secretary of Iran’s Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani lashed out at the US for its fake slogans in support of human rights and its cooperation with Saudi Arabia as a child-killer regime in the region.
Secretary of Iran’s Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani

RNA - "The US is one of the most pretentious countries in defending human rights while the country's human rights record is awful," Larijani said in a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

He referred to US President Donald Trump's recent visit to Saudi Arabia where he called Riyadh Washington's regional ally, and said this is while the Saudi regime has killed thousands of people and children in Yemen.

Elsewhere, Larijani referred to British Prime Minister Theresa May's visit to Bahrain, and said she stressed support for the Manama government while the al-Khalifa regime is standing against a materialization of the Bahraini people's rights.

In relevant remarks in December, Larijani asked for the designation of special human rights rapporteurs for the countries which are directly and indirectly involved in suppressing and killing the regional people, including the US, Britain, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Israel.

"Today, the US is one of the biggest violators of human rights in the world and aside from the crimes that they commit in Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan directly and indirectly, all criminals in the world are supported by them," Larijani said at the time.

"The Zionist regime and al-Saud which have a high record of child-killing are friends of these countries (the US and its European allies) and the US and countries like Britain sell weapons to them. In Bahrain, people merely want to enjoy the right of one vote for every person but they are suppressed violently and the British prime minister travels to the country in full disgrace and supports the cruel government," he added.

Larijani called for the designation of special human rights rapporteurs for all of these countries.

Also in March 2016, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei scoffed at Washington's claim of support for human rights and democracy, noting that the US support for Saudi-Israeli wars in the region says it all.

"The Americans don’t have any answers to the easiest questions from the world community. They don't say why they support those behind the ongoing crimes against humanity in Yemen. The don't shy away from backing those behind the ongoing state terrorism against the defenseless people of Yemen," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei added, "They (the US) support the child-killer Zionist regime and regional allies which aren’t familiar with and don’t understand elections at all."

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the Iranian officials to be wary of American officials who commit the worst possible crimes "then smile and talk to you."

The US supports Saudi Arabia which has been pounding Yemen for over two years amid the silence of the international community.

Saudi Arabia launched its bombing campaign against Yemen in March 2015 in an attempt to restore power to fugitive President Mansour Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

Hadi stepped down in January 2015 and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries.

Despite Riyadh's claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

The Monarchy's attacks have so far claimed the lives of at least 14,000 civilians, mostly women and children.
