Deir Ezzur

Several people were killed and injured in a series of mortar attacks by the ISIL militants against residential areas in Deir Ezzur province in Syria.

One civilian was killed and 20 more were injured due to an attack by ISIL Takfiri terrorist organization with mortar shells on al-Qusour and al-Joura neighborhoods in Deir Ezzur city, SANA reported.

The Syrian Army troops' operation to lift ISIL's siege on Deir Ezzur city and its military airport has inflicted major losses on the terrorists and held them back behind their defense lines.

Meanwhile, Syrian soldiers, backed up by the country's Air Force, repelled several attacks of the ISIL on the pro-government forces' positions in Deir Ezzur, killing tens of Takfiri militants and destroying their military equipment.

Also on Monday, the Syrian Armed forces and the Russian Air Force launched heavy attacks on ISIL's defense lines after the terrorists' large-scale offensive on pro-government forces' positions in Deir Ezzur was repulsed.

The ISIL launched an offensive in the Deir Ezzur province, targeting the Syrian Army positions around the Panorama Roundabout in the Western outskirts of Deir Ezzur city.

ISIL began the assault by storming the army’s defense lines East of the Panorama School which resulted in fierce clashes.

As the Takfiri terrorists failed to advance against the army, the ISIL tried to bring in reinforcements from the Tayyem Valley, but pro-government forces hit their vehicles, destroying them and killing scores of militants.

Quneitra

Military sources confirmed that the Israeli Air Force, for the second time in a row, targeted the Syrian Army troop's strongholds in the Southern province of Quneitra in the last 24 hours.

The sources said that the terrorist groups' mortar units shelled the Golan Heights at Syria's border with Israel, and the Israeli fighter jets also bombed the Syrian army centers in Quneitra.

The Arabic-language Elam al-Harbi said the mortar units of Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) opened fire at Israeli positons in occupied Golan Heights in order to give the needed pretext to the Israeli forces to attack the Syrian army.

Al-Mayadeen news network, meantime, reported that Israeli warplanes targeted a Syrian army vehicle.

Also on Sunday, the Syrian Army troops engaged in tough battle with Al-Nusra Front in the Southern province of Quneitra and repelled their heavy attack, killing and wounding 150 militants.

The army soldiers warded off Al-Nusra's large-scale attack towards the town of al-Ba'ath and managed to restore security to the region after killing and wounding 150 terrorists.

Al-Nusra's military hardware sustained heavy damage in the failed attack.

A field source said that Abu al-Qasem Haji Amin and Yusef al-Motaleb, two senior Al-Nusra commanders, were among the dead militants.

The source further said that Al-Nusra's second large-scale attack on army positions in al-Ba'ath was carried out after their failure in the first attack on Sunday to decrease the pro-government forces' pressure on the militants in Dara'a via attacking army's positions in al-Ba'ath.

The source added that Al-Nusra's attacks were carried out simultaneous with the Israeli air force' attacks on army positons that left a number of Syrian soldiers and civilians dead in Quneitra.

The source went on to say that a number of injured militants have been transferred to an Israeli hospital.

Another field source said that the army also managed to recapture all the lost points to the West of al-Ba'ath city in Quneitra province, effectively reversing every gain that militants were able to achieve in recent hours, including in Mashtal Al-Zohor, the Fire Station building and the Security Force building (Al-Mafrazeh).
