RNA - A military source told the Arabic-language al-Masirah television network that the warship was targeted on Sunday night with an appropriate weapon, without elaborating.
The source noted that the warship was carrying out hostile acts in the territorial waters of Yemen when it was targeted.
The warship is the eleventh vessel hit by the Yemeni army and popular committees since the start of the operations conducted in reaction to the Saudi aggression. More than 10 war boats were also targeted during the period.
On June 14, Yemeni naval forces targeted an Emirati warship belonging to the so-called Saudi coalition off the coast of Yemen’s southwestern city of Mukha.
In late January, the Yemeni forces fired a guided missile at the Saudi warship, al-Madinah, in waters near the port city of Hudaydah, located 150 kilometers southwest of the capital Sana'a.
Since March 2015, Yemen has been heavily bombarded by Saudi warplanes as part of a brutal campaign against the Arabian Peninsula country in an attempt to crush the popular Houthi movement and reinstall the former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.
Nearly 3.3 million Yemeni people, including 2.1 million children, are currently suffering from acute malnutrition. Latest tallies show that the war has so far killed over 12,000 Yemenis and wounded thousands more. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s facilities and infrastructure, destroying many hospitals, schools, and factories.
