RNA - On June 7, gunmen mounted almost simultaneous assaults on Iran’s Parliament and the Mausoleum of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, killing 17 people and injuring over 50 others. The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assaults.

“After the terrorist attacks in Tehran, more than 50 elements linked to terrorist groups have been arrested so far  in Kermanshah Province,” provincial prosecutor, Nemat Sadeqi, told reporters on Sunday.

He added that a considerable amount of explosive belts, electronic detonators, and weapons have also been confiscated from the detainees.

The official stated that terrorist elements, outfits and sponsors have been seriously confronted, adding that intelligence and security forces are in complete command of the situation in Kermanshah Province and its border areas.

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that the country’s security forces had managed to identify and arrest the Daesh-linked terrorists who were planning to carry out terrorist acts in provinces deep in the country as well as religious cities.

They were nabbed on International Quds Day, which fells on the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan, and ahead of the Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy Muslim month, it added.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) also said on Friday that it had disbanded a terrorist group in the western Iranian province of Kurdistan.

It added that three terrorists were killed in the operation and one was arrested. Some weapons and ammunition were also seized.
