RNA - Baqeri made the remark in a message issued on Wednesday following Iran’s missile attack against the Daesh targets in eastern Syria last week.
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) fired six medium-range ground-to-ground ballistic missiles into Daesh bases in Syria’s Dayr al-Zawr on Sunday in retaliation for the June 7 twin terrorist attacks in the Iranian capital Tehran, which killed at least 17 people and injured over 50 others.
“The IRGC’s powerful operation to fire medium-range missiles into the command center of the Takfiri terrorists in Syria’s Dayr al-Zawr showed that national security is a red line for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and efforts to safeguard it will not be neglected even for a moment,” read part of the statement.
Baqeri said the missile attack, which came as the US Senate voted for fresh sanctions against Iran, made the enemy understand that “any threat or acts of aggression against the country’s security… will be met with [Iran’s] Armed Forces’ response.”
He added that the strike demonstrates that all Iranians unanimously agree that the US is leading terrorists and acts of terror.
The US Senate on June 15 overwhelmingly passed a bill imposing sanctions on Iran over its missile program among other things.
The legislation still must pass the Republican-led House of Representatives and be signed by President Donald Trump to become law.
Iran has said it will give a fitting response to the new US sanctions.
