RNA - “Violence and extremism are deplorable and unacceptable everywhere, whatever their motive, goal and means and whichever group of innocent people their victims are,” he said on Tuesday.

He expressed his sympathy with the British people and the bereaved families of the recent violent act in London.

"While maintaining vigilance against these measures, it is important that they be countered at the roots and non-perfunctorily."

At least one person was killed and 10 others injured after a van rammed into a group of Muslims near a mosque in the Finsbury Park area of London on Monday.

Police confirmed a 47-year-old father of four, Darren Osborne, was arrested at the scene and that counterterror cops are now investigating.

London’s mayor Sadiq Khan said on Monday it was "a truly horrific terrorist attack on our city that deliberately targeted innocent Londoners."

London's first Muslim mayor vowed not to let terror divide the capital.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said police were treating the incident “as a potential terrorist attack."

She said, “I will chair an emergency meeting later this morning. All my thoughts are with the victims, their families and the emergency services on the scene.”
