RNA - “The Daesh terrorist group is affiliated with the US and Saudi Arabia and carries out terrorist measures under the direction, guidance and support of these two countries,” Deputy Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said on Tuesday.
He added that Daesh Takfiris conduct their terrorist moves against regional countries with the support of Riyadh and Washington.
“Today, we are witnessing the destructive effects of state terrorism, which is promoted by Saudi Arabia and the US as well as some reactionary countries in the region, in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen and other countries, including some European states,” the Iranian commander said.
Jazayeri emphasized that the noble Iranians are a “powerful” nation and would continue with the fight against terrorism without being affected by the enemy’s indiscriminate moves.
At least 17 people were killed and over 50 others injured in Tehran on June 7 when gunmen mounted almost simultaneous assaults on Iran’s Parliament and the Mausoleum of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.
The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assaults.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in Oslo on Tuesday the Islamic Republic has obtained intelligence showing that Saudi Arabia is “actively” propping up terrorist groups along Iranian eastern and western borders.
A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that the readiness of Iran's security forces at the Parliament and Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum foiled Daesh terror attacks in the Iranian capital.
Ali Asghar Gorjizadeh, the commander of IRGC’s Ansar-ol-Mahdi Corps, which is responsible for protection of senior Iranian officials, added that from the very first moments after the twin terrorist attacks, members of the Ansar-ol-Mahdi Corps took measures to encounter the terrorists.
