Rasa - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan underlined the need for forging unity among Muslims of the world.

RNA - "The major lesson of the holy fasting month of Ramadan is unity among Muslims," Zarif said in his Twitter message on Saturday.

 

He said that "let us seize Ramadan as an opportunity to remind ourselves" and fellow man of that which brings us together as an Ummah under one Creator.

 

In relevant remarks on Saturday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani called for collective fight against terrorism and extremism in the world.

 

“I believe that Ramadan will provide an excellent opportunity for the Muslims to reinforce empathy, brotherhood, and friendship among themselves,” Larijani said in his messages to his counterparts from Muslim countries.

 

The Iranian parliament speaker underlined that in order to overcome the difficult conditions facing the Muslim world, Muslim nations require adopting a coherent approach against the growing trend of extremism and terrorism in the region.

 

In relevant remarks in early May, Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's State Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati underlined that his country is using all its power and capabilities to fight against the terrorist groups which have disturbed security in the region.

 

"Iran has used all its power to confront the terrorists in the region," Velayati told reporters.

 

Stressing that Iran will also stand against any enemy plots to disintegrate the regional states, he said, "We support Iraq's sovereignty as demanded by the country's people."
