Rasa - The comprehensive military campaign by Iraqi military forces to liberate the Northern city of Mosul from ISIL militants continued on Sunday, as local reports said Iraqi counter-terrorism forces seized a large cache of weapons inside an ISIL depot in Western Mosul.

ISIL Weapons from Saudi Arabia Seized by Iraqi Forces in Mosul

 

Iraqi counter-terrorism forces seized a large cache of weapons inside an ISIL depot in Western Mosul this week.

 

Several boxes of weapons from Saudi Arabia were discovered by the Iraqi counter-terrorism forces while they were combing through this depot in the recently liberated parts of Western Mosul, Al Masdar reported.

 

Video footage of the Iraqi counter-terrorism forces seizing these weapons was captured by a local media station, it shows the entire cache of weapons from Saudi Arabia.

 

Iraqi Forces Closes in on Complete Mosul Victory as ISIL Clings on to Last Three Districts

 

Reports said an intensified counter-insurgency efforts by Iraqi security forces continue to achieve goals in the ongoing campaign to liberate the Northern city of Mosul as the Iraqi forces retook three more ISIL-held neighborhoods.

 

Amid the last stage of the Mosul battle, the Iraqi Army was able to wrestle control of the Iqtisadiyeen district, Al-Rabi’ district and highly fortified ’17th Tammuz’ district, the latter holds symbolic significance for the caliphate as it was the first large suburb to fall into ISIL hand in 2014, Al Masdar reported.

 

The ISIL now effectively controls merely three districts in Mosul city, namely the Al-Shafaa, Al-Zinjiji, and Old City neighborhoods. These ISIL-held areas are centered along three bridges on the Western bank of the Tigris River.

 

Four More Villages Liberated by Iraqi Troops West of Mosul

 

The Iraqi volunteer forces liberated several villages in Qairawan region and blocked an ISIL's supply route, West of Mosul.

 

Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces, Hashd al-Shaabi, said in a statement that the troops retook villages of al-Mesabas, al-Niliya, Sadet Zawbaa and Thara al-Owaiset in South of Qairawan. “Huge losses in lives and equipments were inflicted on the enemy,” Iraqi News reported.

 

“The troops cut off an ISIL supply route that extends between al-Hatmiya and Tal Qasab, North of Qairawan,” according to the statement.
