RNA - "The Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys so much defense power that it can give an iron fist response to any threat and it will kill in the bud any provocative and aggressive move," Naqavi Hosseini said on Tuesday.
Stressing that the countries which recklessly speak about Iran are themselves aware of Tehran's capabilities, he said, "Iran has never been and will not be after war and threatening other countries but it will give an unforgettable response to any threat and action. The countries whose foundation will be destroyed with a small military operation should specially not opine on the Islamic Republic of Iran."
In relevant remarks on Monday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan described the Saudi officials' war rhetoric against Tehran as a "bluff", and advised them to come out of the Yemen quagmire first.
"It is a bluff rather than being a reality. They have become entangled in certain regions (Yemen) and they should make a posture to come out of it," General Dehqan said in an interview with the Lebanese al-Manar channel.
"They have even failed to defeat the empty-handed Yemeni nation," he said.
Noting that the Saudi officials are not aware of the meaning of what they speak about, General Dehqan said, "We advise them not to adopt a stupid measure but if they do and make any aggression, I believe that nowhere in Saudi Arabia would remain safe, but Mecca and Medina."
His remarks came after Saudi Arabia’s deputy crown prince said in a recent interview that dialogue between his nation and Iran is impossible because of what he called as the latter’s “extremist ideology".
Mohammed bin Salman, who serves as Riyadh’s defense minister and is second in line to the throne, claimed that his country is a primary target for Iran and charged that Iran sought to control of the Islamic world. “We won’t wait for the battle to be in Saudi Arabia,” Prince Mohammed said, “instead, we’ll work so that the battle is for them in Iran.”
After his remarks, Iran's UN Ambassador Gholam Ali Khoshrou urged the global community to take action against Saudi Arabia’s support for terrorism and extremism.
"It is imperative for the international community to take necessary action to compel Saudi Arabia to stop its reckless sponsorship of terrorism and extremism in the region and across the globe," Khoshrou wrote in a Thursday letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council.
The Iranian diplomat expressed Tehran’s preparedness to hold dialogue with Saudi Arabia to promote regional peace despite "unlawful and inflammatory" remarks by bin Salman against Iran.
