RNA - "The US has not taken any effective measure against terrorism in the region under irrespective of Democrats and Republicans in power," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Tehran Nguyen Hong Thach on Sunday.
He pointed to the regional developments and the policies by the new US government, and said Trump's administration has not taken any serious policy, different from the previous government, and the country continues its counterproductive behavior in the region.
Amir Abdollahian referred to Saudi Arabia’s attacks on Yemen and the growing crisis in the country, and said Yemen has turned into an important base for terrorists in the shadow of war aimed at security of free waters.
Nguyen Hong Thach, for his part, pointed to the readiness of the government and parliament of Vietnam to expand relations with Iran, and said, "The two countries are exchanging political and parliamentary delegations and the Vietnamese government and nation welcome improvements in ties with the Islamic Republic in all-out fields, specially in cultural and economic relations.
He added that cultural cooperation plays an important role in enhancing the cooperation between Iran and Vietnam since it contributes greatly to the understanding of the two peoples from each other.
Vietnamese ambassador explained his country's positions on regional and international developments, and underlined the need for political solution to the global crises.
In relevant remarks on Saturday, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi blasted the US for its wrong policies in supporting the terrorist groups in the regional countries.
"Unfortunately, certain states with wrong analyses encouraged the US and its allies to pave the way for escalating crises in the region from Syria to Libya by supporting the terrorist groups," Boroujerdi said in a meeting with German Deputy Foreign Minister Markus Ederer in Tehran.
He pointed to the human catastrophes in Yemen and Bahrain, and said, "The silence of the so-called advocates of human rights against the massacre of innocent people of the two countries is shameful."
Boroujerdi, meantime, referred to good relations between the two countries, and said that Iran and Germany boast numerous capacities for boosting relations.
"Cooperation between Iran and Germany plays a crucial role in fighting the evil phenomenon of terrorism and restoring security and calm to the region," the senior lawmaker added.
