RNA - The ISIL terrorists' offensive to capture the government forces' positions in Eastern Homs were fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Aleppo and Deir Ezzur, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army's operations in other provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL in a key region in the Southern outskirts of the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur) and managed to repel the terrorists' attack.

The Army men exchanged heavy fire with ISIL after they attacked the pro-government forces in al-Sukri region near Palmyra, repelling their offensive and killing or wounding a number of the terrorists.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force carried out a number of combat flights over ISIL-held al-Sukhnah and its surrounding regions along the Palmyra-Deir Ezzur road, at Station 3 East of Palmyra, Mount al-Zahek and near Qasr al-Hireh al-Sharqi, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The army aircraft also pounded ISIL's positions in the village of al-Habra al-Sharqi in Eastern Homs, destroying an ammunition depot.

Meantime, the Syrian Army troops continued to storm ISIL's defense lines in al-Shoumeriyeh mountain and managed to drive the terrorists out of more heights in the region.

The army soldiers engaged in a tough battle with ISIL in al-Shoumeriyeh mountain and pushed them back from their positions, taking control over al-Rajm al-Aali.

The ISIL suffered heavy casualties and its military equipment sustained major damage in the attack.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army is preparing a large number of fresh soldiers to send them to the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur to intensify battle against ISIL, military sources said on Saturday.

The sources said that the Syrian army reinforcements deployed in Eastern Damascus will be transferred to the battlefields in Deir Ezzur to intensify fight against ISIL.

The soldiers will land at the 137th military base in the Southern countryside of the city in a heliborne operation.

Reports from Syria also said that once the de-escalation zones plan comes into force, a large number of army soldiers in the zones will be sent to fight against terrorists in other provinces.

The Arabic-language desk of Sputnik quoted the Russian Kommersant daily as saying on Thursday that four zones of de-escalation would be created in Idlib province, Northern Homs, Eastern Ghouta and Southern Syria.

It added that based on the plan the zones would be emptied of weapons as there would be a tight ban on the use of firearms in these zones.

The paper went on to say that the four zones would be open to humanitarian organizations, adding that construction operation of civil infrastructures would start in the zones.

The paper added that according to the plan, several checkpoints would be erected at the borderlines of these four zones for inspection to ease transfer of civilians and humanitarian aids.

The inspection and checking points would operate under the supervision and guarding of the foreign military forces guaranteed by Russia, Turkey and Iran.

Damascus

A sum of 169 militants and civilians have been killed in fresh clashes between rival terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta since April 28, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.

The SOHR reported that clashes between the Saudi-backed Jeish al-Islam and Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in Eastern Ghouta have left 156 militants dead since April 28.

The SOHR noted that 67 slain militants were from Jeish al-Islam while the rest were members of the Al-Nusra and allied Faylaq al-Rahman.

The fighting has also killed 13 civilians, including two children, and wounded dozens more.

SOHR Director Rami Abdel Rahman said the “situation has returned to how it was before,” adding that “each side has taken back the areas it lost during the fighting.”

Aleppo

At least eight militants, supported by the Turkish army, were killed and several more were wounded in a fresh round of clashes with the predominately Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Northern Aleppo, informed sources said Saturday.

The sources said that the Ankara-backed militant groups deployed in the villages of Toweis and Tal Maled and the town of Mare'a attacked the positions of SDF fighters in the villages of Hasiyeh, Samouqeh, Tal Madhiq and Qolsorouj in al-Shahba dam region.

"The SDF fighters engaged in fierce clashes with the militants and killed at least eight and wounded dozens more," the sources said, and added, "The clashes lasted for several hours."

The Kurdish sources reported in late April that a sum of 17 Turkish soldiers were killed and three others were badly injured in continued clashes with the Kurdish units at Syria's border with Turkey.

The sources said that the Kurdish fighters engaged in fierce clashes with the Turkish army troops near the town of Afrin, killing 17 soldiers and wounding three more.

The sources said that three tanks of the militant groups affiliated to Ankara were also destroyed in clashes near Afrin.

The Kurdish sources had previously claimed that their fighters destroyed a military vehicle, a tank and a vehicle of the Turkish army near the town of Tal Abyadh in Northern Raqqa.
