RNA - Local sources said that Palestinian youth threw stones and empty bottles at Israeli soldiers and military vehicles in the area of the village of Deir Nidham, while Israeli forces shot live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear gas, Ma'an reported.

The 13-year-old, whom local news site Nablus 24 identified as Jihad Muhammad Tamimi, was shot in the foot with live ammunition and evacuated to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah for treatment.

Rights groups have routinely condemned Israeli authorities for their excessive use of force against Palestinians, including minors, during clashes and incidents which could have been handled without the use of potentially lethal violence.

According to UN documentation, Israeli forces have injured 397 Palestinians so far in 2017. In 2016, 3,393 Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces.

In March, Israeli forces shot and killed a 16-year-old Murad Yousif Abu Ghazi and seriously injured another Palestinian teen after soldiers opened fire at a group of Palestinian youth who were allegedly throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at passing vehicles. Abu Ghazi's death marked the second time this year that Israeli forces fatally shot a Palestinian minor.

The Israeli army also claimed that 17-year-old Qusay al-Umour was throwing Molotov cocktails, a claim that was widely contradicted by video evidence and investigations undertaken by rights groups, which reported that the Israeli army's version of events “has no basis in reality."
