RNA - Steele said the claim that the Syrian government still has chemical weapons bears no relation to reality and added that evidence mounts that the Idlib incident was a false flag operation.
"We now know from a source that serves on the staff of one of three American traitors that I will name: Senator John McCain, former CIA Director John Brennan, and National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Herbert McMaster — [that] they conspired with Israel and Saudi Arabia. The White Helmets were paid over $300,000 and this was a false flag attack and an MIT professor [Theodore A. Postol] provided superb analysis which says that it was a ground improvised-explosive device and that was not sarin gas," Steele told Radio Sputnik.
He referred to MIT professor of Technology and National Security Policy Theodore A. Postol's research busting the US intelligence report blaming the Syrian government for the suspected attack in Idlib province.
"This was a false flag attack carried out and organized by American traitors working with Israel and Saudi Arabia," the former CIA officer reiterated.
The former CIA officer pointed out that different geopolitical actors are pursuing their own goals. For instance, Saudi Arabia wants Syria so that they can run a pipeline to the sea and not be dependent on the Strait of Hormuz for shipping.
On the other hand, "Goldman Sachs wants war in the Middle East because they made some very bad bets on oil and they are about to lose a ton of money and a war will drive up the price of oil," Steele explained.
For their part, US neoconservatives want a war in the Middle East "because that's what Israel pays them to want."
"Last but not least is the US military industrial complex," he said, adding that "they want a war in order to use up the US military so we have to buy it again."
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had said that Western countries are blocking attempts to investigate the Idlib chemical incident because in the event of a probe it will be established that the attack was a false flag and lie.
"We formally sent a letter to the United Nations, we asked them in that letter to send a delegation in order to investigate what happened in Khan Sheikhoun," Syrian President said.
"Of course till this moment they didn't send, because the West and the United States blocked any delegation from coming, because if they come, they will find that all their narratives about what happened in Khan Shaykhun and then the attack on Sha'irat airport was a false flag, was a lie," Assad added.
Syrian President also said Damascus is 100% certain that terrorists get chemical weapons directly from Turkey.
"Directly from Turkey, and there was evidence regarding this, some of [it has] been shown on the internet a few years ago. You had many parties and parliament members in Turkey who questioned the government regarding those allegations. So, it's not something hidden," Assad added.
He further maintained that financial, armament and logistic support for terrorists in Syria, including recruitment, is provided through Turkey.
"They don't have any other way to come from the North. So, it's a hundred percent Turkey," Assad stressed.
Opposition groups claimed that 80 people were killed and 200 injured in a suspected chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province, putting the blame on the Syrian government. Damascus vehemently rejected the accusations and emphasized that militants and their allies were responsible.
The United States carried out a missile strike on the Shayrat airfield in response to an alleged chemical attack on a militant-held town in Idlib province the blame for which Washington has immediately pinned on the Bashar al-Assad government.
Washington has failed to provide any proof that the Syrian government was behind the purported gas attack, with Damascus categorically denying the US accusation.
According to reports, around 60 Tomahawk cruise missiles were launched at Shayrat military airfield in Southeast of Homs city. US military ships in the Mediterranean launched the strike on Syrian airbase, killed and wounded several civilians.
The US strike has been condemned by Tehran and Moscow, two main allies of Damascus in fight against terrorism, while the Syrian Armed Forces' General Command has also deplored US missile attack on Shayrat military airport, adding the move made clearer that the US is a partner of ISIL and Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) terrorists in the war-hit country.
