RNA - It is within this extant context that what is happening in Yemen is war crime, a deliberate act that constitutes a serious violation of the law of war that gives rise to group criminal responsibility - in this case, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the mere extras. The warmongers’ crimes against humanity include intentionally killing civilians, destroying civilian property, bombing schools, hospitals, mosques, as well as serious violations of the principles of distinction and proportionality, such as strategic bombing of the civilian population at weddings and funerals.
Further still, their war crimes include declaring that they are bombing Yemen to stop an alleged Iranian plot to gain power in the poorest country in the Arab world. In this respect, Defense Secretary James Mattis cites Iran as reason the US is considering further helping Saudi Arabia-led bombing coalition in Yemen.
In his words, "Everywhere you look, if there's trouble in the region, you find Iran. So right now what we're seeing is the nations in the region and others elsewhere trying to checkmate Iran and the amount of disruption and instability they can cause. The US would reinforce Saudi Arabia's resistance to Iran's mischief."
The fact that Mattis has made no public attempt to come up with evidence underscores the reality that his Iran bashing isn’t for regional security and peace. Quite the contrary, it underscores that destruction of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Yemen by the global criminal syndicate was never enough. The US and company are still looking to expand the scope of their ongoing war crimes, a move that some see as another signal that President Donald Trump is itching to take the US to a new war with no UN authorization and certainly no justification and rationality, and their smear campaign against Iran is only meant to force Tehran to withdraw its political support for the poor and oppressed Yemenis.
Among the options for support of such policy are boosting intelligence-sharing and logistical efforts with regional allies, intensifying the bombing raids, troop surge, media smear campaign, sanctions and blockade, and giving more weapons and money to terror proxies - all in violation of International Law and in breach of United Nations Charter. The global criminal syndicate might at the same time claim they are increasing military pressure on the resistance group of Ansarullah to push them into negotiating an end to the conflict, but that’s just a ruse. As in Syria, they have shown no interest in peace talks.
More so, the Trump White House is lying to its teeth when it says it would not put boots on the ground. The White House and Pentagon regime officials say the support for Saudi Arabia in Yemen - and the new escalation in Syria - would make clear their hardline stance on Iran. During his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, for instance, Mattis accused Iran of being a troublemaker, alleging the country was destabilizing the region “by supplying the Houthis with weapons,” without ever providing a shred of evidence to back his silly claims.
As previously, not one of these criminal actions and baseless accusations are necessary. Not one will ever make people in the West or in the Middle East any safer. As previously, it won’t bring peace, much less victory to the warmongers. The question now isn't what the United States and its allies will do next. It's what Iran and Russia will do next, as opponents of America’s wars of aggression and deceit.
For one, they are not dropping their legitimate support for Syria, Iraq, and Yemen in their all-out war against foreign-backed terrorism and extremism. Simply put, they are not afraid of America’s shenanigans. On the other hand, the global criminal syndicate will surely continue to be quintessential ideologues, acting in the region on the pretext of bogus War on Terror and on the basis of paranoid assumptions. They are still desperate to rule the world, backed up by force of American arms, and not primarily for security reasons. They genuinely believe that American military hegemony is benign and even a blessing for the volatile region. Defined in this way, resistance in any form stands in their way.
Until the war criminals permit their bogus concern for regional security and peace to be challenged and tested by engagement with the international civil society, the rule of, and reality, their strategic mistakes and consequences of those mistakes will continue to pile up and get worse. Meaning, there will continue to be less chance of peace and security for them or anyone else in the region. But peace and security for the region will come one way or another. Their regime change fantasies, war crimes, human rights violations and slurs can thrive and deceive the world community for only so long.
