RNA - "Iran wants an advanced, powerful, secure and integrated Iraq and given this policy Iran will stand by Iraq under any condition," the Iranian ambassador said.

"We should do our best to improve the relations between the two countries," Masjedi added.

In relevant remarks in late March, a senior Iraqi diplomat underlined that his country would continue to cooperate with Iran in the campaign against terrorism.

"Iraq regards Iran as a neighboring and friendly country and therefore we will continue our anti-terror cooperation with Tehran," Iraqi Ambassador to Kuwait Alaa al-Hashimi told reporters.

Al-Hashimi lauded the role of Iranian military advisors in training Iraqi forces to fight terrorist groups.

"Iran has continued to support Baghdad since the fall of Ba’athist regime in Iraq," the Iraqi ambassador said while pointing to 1,300 kilometers of common borders between Iran and Iraq.

Al-Hashimi, however, ruled out the reports about presence of foreign troops in Iraq, and said, "The Iraqi army does not need the help of foreign forces and will fight terrorists with the help of Hashd al-Shaabi (Iraqi popular forces) and tribal forces.

In relevant remarks in early March, Iraqi Interior Minister Qasim al-Araji lauded Iran's recent achievements in defense and military fields.

"During my visit to Iran's military and defensive industry pavilion in the sixth international exhibition of military industry in Baghdad, I saw that the country has made considerable advances," the Iraqi interior minister said.

He underlined that has made great military advances, and said, "Baghdad intends to share Iran's experiences and make use of its achievements."
