RNA - "Iran has witnessed high level of security and this is in the wake of national unity and solidarity as well as public confidence in officials and the hope to future," President Rouhani said.

He reiterated that if Iran had not taken measures against the terrorist groups in the region, different conditions would have prevailed in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq as well as the entire region today.

The Iranian president pointed to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and exclusion of Iran from the list of oppressive sanctions, and said that today a country which was once considered a threat and overwhelmed by sanctions and restrictions is currently cooperating with other countries and enjoys high level of security.

In relevant remarks in late March, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined that despite all attempts made by various terrorist groups, Iran is the most secure country in the region due to its powerful defense and military forces.

"Iran is the safest country in the troubled region of Western Asia," Larijani said.

He reiterated that Iran's security is due to its powerful Armed Forces, and said, "The security index in Iran shows improvement on a daily basis."

In relevant remarks in early December, Larijani took the big world powers and certain regional states responsible for the spread of terrorism and insecurity in the region.

"The strategic mistake of the big and regional powers in using terrorism for tactical objectives is the root cause of insecurity in the region," Larijani said in Tehran, addressing the International Conference on Regional Security Order in West Asia.

Noting that this strategy has been pursued by the big and regional powers since the occupation of Afghanistan by the former Soviet Union, he said that they continued this policy until today in Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen and "practically, this strategy has led to the spread of terrorism".

Also in September, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani blasted the western countries for continuing their supports for the terrorist groups in the region.

"The measures taken by the West to counter the true Islamic teachings are to blame for the spread of terrorism throughout the world," Shamkhani said.

He went on to say that the West’s historic mistakes, namely the use of terrorism as a means and support for deviant ideologies to counter the genuine and revolutionary Islamic ideology as well as double standard policies in the fight against terrorism, have led to the perilous status quo.
