RNA - The victim, identified as 21-year-old Ahmed Hamed, was fatally shot outside the Israeli Ofra settlement north of Ramallah on Thursday morning.

Israeli military sources claimed the regime’s troops opened fire when the Palestinian rammed his vehicle into a group of soldiers, killing one of them and injuring another.

Since August 2015, the occupied West Bank has been the scene of tensions between Israeli forces and the Palestinians protesting Tel Aviv’s imposition of restrictions on the entry of Muslim worshippers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.

Over 285 Palestinians have so far been killed by Israeli forces since October that year, when the tensions intensified.

Over the past months, Israeli forces have fatally shot many Palestinians in the occupied territories, claiming they sought to attack the Israelis. Witnesses also say Israeli forces leave the injured Palestinians to bleed to death.

Israel has come under fire by rights groups for encouraging a shoot-to-kill policy.

In January, Human Rights Watch voiced its deep concern over the increasing number of Israeli officials encouraging troops to kill Palestinians even when they are not a threat.

The rights group released a report on January 2 documenting numerous statements since October 2015 by senior Israeli officials calling on police and military to shoot dead suspected Palestinian attackers.
