Rasa - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Thursday condemned the recent allegations raised by the Arab League about Iran's three Persian Gulf islands of Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb and the Lesser Tunb.

RNA - "These islands are inseparable parts of Iran and will also remain to be so and repeating the lies will not change the historical facts," Qassemi said.

Qassemi's remarks came in reaction to Arab League's recent final declaration which was issues at the end of its summit in Jordan.

"Instead of paying attention to the core problems facing the region and the Islamic world as well as the mutual threats posed against all Muslim nations the Arab League continues to mistake enemies for friends despite all the previous experiences," the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said.

In the final declaration following its Wednesday summit, Arab League leaders criticized Iran without naming it, saying, “We reject any intervention in the internal affairs of Arab countries.”

The pan-Arab organization also repeated its claims about the ownership of the three Iranian islands of the Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa in the Persian Gulf.

International documents clearly show that the three islands of the Greater Tunb, the Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa which were historically owned by Iran, temporarily fell to British control in 1903. The islands were returned to Iran based on an agreement in 1971 before the UAE was born.

Iran has repeatedly declared that its ownership of the three islands is unquestionable.

Under international law, no state can defy any agreement, which came into being before its establishment.

Yet, the UAE continues to make territorial claims against the Islamic Republic despite historical evidence and international regulations.
