RNA - "Presence of terrorists in Syria is against security of that country and the entire Middle East region," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Iran Adnan Mahmoud in Tehran on Sunday.
He underlined that Iran will continue its support for Syria until the complete implementation of a political solution in that country.
The Syrian ambassador, for his part, underlined that only the Syrian nation has the right to decide about the future of Syria, adding, "The presence of terrorists at the negotiating table is dangerous for peace process in my country."
He deemed the new round of Geneva peace talks more promising compared with previous negotiations for achieving a political solution to the Syrian crisis, and commended the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fight against terrorism.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is our brother, and we are both fighting at the same front, and are optimistic about the future," he said.
In relevant remarks in late February, Amir Abdollahian lashed out at the UN for keeping mum and remaining inactive against the crimes committed by the terrorist groups in Syria.
"The UN has adopted no positive measure to prevent the terrorist groups' crimes in Syria," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with senior Syrian legislator Hussein Raqib al-Hussein in Tehran.
He also voiced regret over increased attacks against defenseless civilians, specially women and children, in the two besieged towns of Fua'a and Kafraya in Idlib, and underscored Iran's serious determination to continue assistance to Syria's campaign against the terrorist groups.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran's government and parliament supports establishment of peace, stability and annihilation of the Takfiri terrorist groups in the region," Amir Abdollahian said.
