RNA - Rasa - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says any bid by the US to dispatch ground troops to Syria to allegedly fight Daesh Takfiri terrorists in the country would fan the flames of extremism in the Middle East and adversely impact the security of the whole world.
This is while a US military official recently suggested that the White House may authorize sending combat troops to Syria.
Dakotah Lilly, from the Students and Youth for a New America believes the United States is “hell-bent” on pursuing its end goal of regime change in Syria, adding that it has no intention to fight the terrorists in the war-torn country.
“I absolutely agree with the [Iranian] foreign minister. I think if one looks at the recent history of the United States’ involvement in the Middle East - Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, Libya in 2011 - all of these interventions in these countries have led to the emergence of Daesh and now in pursuing regime change in Syria through the funding of Wahhabi terrorists and front groups like al-Nusra, the United States is once again fanning the flames of Islamic extremism in the form of Wahhabism,” the analyst told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.
He also noted “it is unsurprising” that US President Donald Trump has run on a campaign of less intervention around the world because the American people are tired of these regime change operations across the globe.
However, he said, it is of no surprise that now that Trump has been elected president of the United States, he has succumbed to the deep state, the national security apparatus and the military industrial complex in supporting more war abroad.
The analyst also maintained that when a “wealthy powerful elite” has a tight firm grip on the United States government, such overseas illegal operations are going to continue.
Lilly further stated there are think tanks in Israel, which is United States ally in the Middle East, that prefer Daesh to the current government in Syria.
Therefore, he said, the United States surely does not have a problem with Daesh.
