Iranian Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alavi had earlier today disclosed that the country's security forces have identified and arrested eight main elements of a Takfiri terrorist group who were planning to carry out attacks across the country.

"Iranian security forces had managed to foil an organized plot by Takfiri groups to disrupt celebrations marking the 38th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution on February 10," Alavi said.

The intelligence minister reiterated that in the operation carried out on February 3-9, a secret network of terrorist elements was identified near Tehran and in some western and eastern provinces of the country and eight individuals of its key members were arrested.

"All those arrested were non-Iranian nationals and some of them were linked to a ringleader of a Takfiri group, who has recently been killed,” the minister added.

In relevant remarks on Friday, Attorney General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri disclosed that the country's security forces have arrested several terrorists affiliated to the ISIL terrorist group near the capital city of Tehran.

'These individuals sought to carry out their plots during the ceremonies marking the 38th anniversary of the victory of 1979 in Tehran,” Montazeri said.

He reiterated that as per the intelligence obtained the ISIL terrorist group has had plans to conduct terrorist attacks inside Iran.

Montazeri said that further information on the plots of the nabbed ISIL operatives would be revealed to the Iranian nation within the next few days.

He underlined that if the resistance front, supported by Iran, had not stood up against terrorists, the ISIL would have reached the country’s borders.

'Know that if you do not slap the enemy in the face outside the country and outside the borders, it will arrive at your gates,” Montazeri added.
