RNA - Israeli forces detained at least 12 Palestinians during overnight and predawn raids Friday across the occupied West Bank, according to local Palestinian and Israeli army sources.

 

Locals in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron told Ma’an that Israeli forces carried out search and detention raids in the Hebron-area villages of al-Dhahiriya, al-Samu and Dura, with Israeli forces detaining three teens from Dura.

 

Locals identified the three detainees from Dura as Ayed Jamal Amr, Ali Mteir and Saddam Mwaffaq al-Talahmeh, all 17 years old.

 

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed one detention from Dura to Ma’an.

 

Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided several houses in al-Dhahiriya and al-Samou and set up checkpoints in southern Hebron searching vehicles and IDs of passengers.

 

In the northern occupied West Bank, locals reported that Israeli forces raided the Azzun town in eastern Qalqiliya at dawn.

 

Witnesses said that fifteen houses were searched and four youths were detained. The detainess were identified as Omar Mahmour Salim, Walid Anan Sweidan, Saher Judat Majd and Ramez Saher Shalu.

 

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed four detentions from Azzun.

 

The army also said that it detained one Palestinian from Qalqiliya city, one from the Ramallah-area Qalandiya refugee camp, and two from the Hebron district.

 

Israeli forces carry out detention raids across the occupied Palestinian territory on a near-nightly basis, with the UN recording an average of 95 weekly raids in the West Bank in 2016.

 

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians were detained in Israeli prisons as of October 2016.
