Rasa - Saudi Arabia intensified its airstrikes on Yemen, using internationally-banned cluster bombs once again in its air assaults against the impoverished country.
Cluster Bombs Used by Saudi against Yemeni People

RNA - Saudi fighter jets on Thursday strafed al-Zabab region in the southwestern province of Taiz with 43 cluster bombs and white phosphorus munitions, a chemical weapon that can cause severe burns to civilians, the Lebanese news channel Al-Manar reported.

Cluster bombs, if unexploded, can lie dormant and then detonate when people stumble upon one by chance, killing or maiming them as a result.

An international treaty against cluster bombs has been adopted by 116 countries, but the United States and Saudi Arabia are not among them.

Saudi Arabia has been incessantly pounding Yemen since March 2015 with the purpose of reinstalling the country’s former government and crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement.

More than 11,000 Yemenis, including women and children, have been killed in the Saudi military aggression, according to figures released by a Yemeni monitoring group.
