Rasa - Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezayee blasted Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir's recent remarks against his country, stressing that Riyadh is too weak to contain a powerful country like Iran.

RNA - In recent remarks, Jubeir said that Saudi Arabia will work with the US President Donald Trump administration to contain Iran while strengthening ties with the US.

Rezayee responded to him in an Instagram post on Wednesday, saying that Saudi Arabia has been left with no fame and credibility after failures in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Bahrain.

"He should have accounted for his country's killing of children in Yemen and the failure of his Takfiri friends in Iraq and Syria or kept mum for the shame he felt, but on the contrary, he has apparently spoken about the necessity for containing Iran," he said.

Rezayee addressed Jubeir, and asked, "You haven’t been able to contain the oppressed Yemen which didn’t have anything to defend itself, what instruments do you want to use to contain Iran?"

In relevant remarks in July, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi downplayed Riyadh's capability to threaten Iran militarily, and said Tehran is able to strike heavy blows at Saudi Arabia if necessary.

"If needed, we can inflict irreparable damage at the Saudis," General Fadavi said.

Noting that despite Saudi Arabia's possession of giant vessels, none of them passes through the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf which is under Iran's control, he said sometimes some of them which seek to sail towards the Red Sea are compelled to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, "but they don’t have any patrolling mission".

"Not only Saudi Arabia, but also none of the Persian Gulf littoral states enjoys the capability to threaten and launch attack on the Islamic Republic," Fadavi added.

He, meantime, underlined that despite certain analyses, the US and not Saudi Arabia is the main enemy of Iran, adding that the Saudis also take order from Washington.
